SHELLY SHAZAM is a new family audiences musical merging the worlds of musical theatre and magic from sisters Julia and Abby Segal.
With book, music and lyrics by Julia Segal, Shelly Shazam: The Musical is based on the children’s book written by author and magician Abby Segal. The musical tells the story of a young girl who discovers a passion for magic. This discovery lights a spark within Shelly, inspiring her to find the magic in everything she sees and spread the joy that it brings her to everyone she meets. With live, close-up parlor style magic performed on stage alongside a contemporary score, Shelly Shazam celebrates creativity and wonder and encourages audiences of all ages to share the gifts we have within ourselves. Shelly Shazam teaches us that the magic is already inside each and every one of us – and it’s up to us to discover!
Shelly Shazam was a finalist for the Parlando School of Music’s New Musical Project.
Songs from the musical have also been performed at 92NY in Lyrics and Lyricists Jr., Musical Theatre Conservatory at the Mill Mountain Theatre and the Green Room 42.

Shelly Shazam debuts at 54 Below!
The Magic and Music of Shelly Shazam premiered at 54 Below in March 2026. The evening featured the songs and magic tricks of the musical, written by composer/producer Julia Segal and adapted from the children’s book Shelly Shazam, written by Abby Segal.
